Late October, I accompanied Measha Brueggergosman to Berlin, to photograph her performances, and role host, on the TV series Arte Lounge. The shoot was held a Club Maria (Maria am Ostbanhoff) and was filmed over the span of 3 days.

Canoe09 World Championships

It was 4 days of action packed photography on Lake Banook for the canoe and kayak world championships. Media pass in hand, I walked the length of the 200m, 500m, 1000m courses and befriended many along the way. A great turn out and an enthusiastic crowd made for a weekend of awesome races.

Friday Night

In the limo to the Paragon, on Friday night with the dregs

Last Friday night, The Extremities and special guests rocked the paragon with a barrage of beats, rhymes and funkin goodness. Photos begin with some pre drinks at Nowlan’s (featuring Bewers doing a robot dance and then flashing his cash). A stretch limo ride to the Paragon Theatre and the first half of the show… Yes, just the first half. Sadly my second card failed and a couple hundred images were lost. Sorry to those that were anticipating them. brutal…

Canoe 09 Media Day

Canoe and Kayak World Championships, Lake Banook, Dartmouth.

Yesterday afternoon I picked up my media pass and took a tour of the athlete’s village at Lake Banook in Dartmouth. The flatwater canoe and kayak world championships kick off today and run for the rest of the week. The event has close to 1000 participants from 75 countries participating and upwards of 100,000 spectators will grace the shores of lake Banook.

In Burgie's Basement

Last Saturday night at the Seahorse, Sean Jordan (aka Wordburglar) descended upon his hometown of Halifax for some stellar sets of Hip Hop. Joining the WB on stage was Jesse Dangerously, Windom Earle, Fresh Kils, Young Fes, The Extremities and Toolshed amongst others. A packed house took in the event and many joined for the after party that went til 7am. Nothing like being back in Halifax for some hip hop and house parties.

Grand Theft Bus plays at the Governor’s House

It was quite the evening down at the Governor’s house for New Brunswick day. After a fantastic set by David Myles (sorry Dave, I missed it) the blue sky changed to oranges, purples and finally the dark of night. The festivities continued with Grand Theft Bus taking the stage. Mid set, and unexpectedly early (9:30), the fireworks began to fly. Sadly this meant a migration of the crowd away from the stage as they sought a better vantage point to watch the fireworks. What appeared to be poor planning worked out rather well…

Listening to a driving rendition of Street Sleeper with exploding lights overhead was a great bonus to a surprisingly good fireworks show. When the fireworks finale finished and the ensuing mushroom cloud rose to the sky, GTB could still be heard rocking out. It was back to the stage to catch the last of a lengthier than expected performance. With an enthusiastic crowd screaming for more, GTB came back for a surprise encore, solidifying this evening as a most memorable New Brunswick day.

The George Street Leisure Pad

I recently moved in to my old house on George Street, and so a short but leisure filled era has begun. It will also begin the much anticipated George Street Photo Project. With a massive empty heritage home, opportunity is abundant for photo sessions of all varieties. The first photo series took place in the late hours of the night this past week. What started out as a request to take a photo of Helen, Jess and Gemma, turned into a full blown photo shoot around the 183 year old house using props found strewn about the many rooms. Ottawa Marathon 2009

Earlier this summer, I made a trip to Ottawa to shoot the Ottawa Marathon and cheer on my Mom and Sister (running the half). By day it was sports, by night, the parliament grounds. The two images link to the galleries.
